Here at Bits 'n' PCs, we cover numerous schools across the county. We cover many aspects of the school system, and are proud to ensure the correct and current learning of so many children. Here's an idea of what we cover.
In the above image, done by local cartoonist Sinead Nestor for Bits 'n' PCs, is an idea of all the equipment we can help with.
Desktops and laptops
We cover everything when it comes to the laptops, both for the children and the
teachers. This includes supply from specialist organisations, operating system
installation, software installation and even upgrade or repair when required.
Printers
Obviously, printing is paramount when you are teaching a class of 30 children. We are lucky enough to deal with both major suppliers of commercial printers, Cantec in Limerick and NBM in Cork. We can diagnose printing problems on behalf of the supplier, and have access to technical support for both companies, meaning problems are fixed quickly and reliably.
Networking
With the advent of technology in schools, we are dedicated to ensuring that the internet is available across schools. Some sites can have several kilometres of cable and we can check and repair networking throughout the whole school. We also have access to the Education Department's "Scoilnet" service, and regularly work with them to diagnose faults within the school.
Wi-fi/wireless networking
When you have access to the internet, the last thing you want is cables everywhere! For this reason, we can install wi-fi access points if and when needed throughout the school and complying to the Education Department's requirements. Obviously, the wi-fi is protected with a secure and private password, not generally accessible by the children themselves.
Projectors and Whiteboards
Long gone are the days of large slate blackboards at the front of a classroom! Nowadays the classrooms have fully interactive whiteboards and projectors, and we're proud to be able to offer servicing and repair of them. Most of the problems stem from things like faulty bulbs and cables, but sometimes we find that it's a more serious problem and we can contact the different manufacturer. Companies like Promethean are the preferred organisation for such devices, but we have many other suppliers and service manuals, enabling us to check and repair. In the rare event we can't directly repair, we can send them to the foremost repair service in the U.K. and Ireland, a company called TP Matrix who are more than happy to repair any problems before returning them to the school where we return the now running like new projector to it's place in the classroom.
